The net-pak® Complete system: groundbreaking work in the field of fully compostable net packaging

All parts from a single source

The net-pak® Complete Systemis the first total solution for sustainable net packaging in the fruit and vegetable industry. The system was developed in collaboration with Damarc and contains all the necessary components for fully biodegradable packaging.

The three pillars of the system

1. Bio-nets

Our nets, manufactured from renewable raw materials, offer the same strength and product protection as conventional nets – with the difference that they are fully compostable.

2. Bio-Clips

The bio-based clips seal the nets securely and reliably. After use, they break down completely, making them ideal for industrial and household composting.

3. Bio-labels

The labels are also fully compostable. Product information, barcodes, and legally required disclosures can be applied without any problems, without compromising sustainability.

Packaging according to EU regulations: comply with the new packaging regulation

The European packaging sector is currently undergoing a profound transformation. The new EU Regulation on Packaging and Packaging Waste (PPWR)sets clear objectives to make packaging more sustainable. The focus is on reducing packaging waste and promoting reusable and recyclable packaging solutions. At the same time, the use of single-use plastics must be significantly limited, while the share of bio-based materials is increased. Companies are therefore challenged to adapt their packaging strategies to these new requirements and bring them into compliance with EU regulations.

With net-pak® you are well prepared:

  • Fully compostable
All parts meet the requirements for biodegradability
  • Economical with resources
    Optimized material usage reduces waste
  • Future-proof
Investment in technology that already complies with future regulations
  • Demonstrably sustainable
Certifications substantiate your responsibility for the environment

Your benefits

  • Legal certainty
Compliance with current and future regulations
  • Market positioning
    Distinctiveness through demonstrable sustainability
  • Consumer acceptance
Meeting the ever-increasing demands of the consumer
  • Reduction of the ecological footprint
    Measurable CO₂ savings

Sustainable packaging and saving costs at the same time

Sustainability and profitability are not mutually exclusive – on the contrary. The net-pak® Complete system offers you measurable financial benefits thanks to compostable packaging.

1. Significantly lower waste processing costs

Conventional plastic packaging entails high waste disposal costs. Compostable packaging can be disposed of significantly more cheaply and environmentally friendly via the green container or industrial composting.

2. Efficient use of materials

The net-pak® system is designed for economical material use. Less material means lower purchasing costs while maintaining packaging quality.

3. Process optimization

The Somi Net Clipper works with proven clipping technology. Reliable processes mean:

  • lower failure rates
  • less machine downtime
  • higher throughput speeds

4. Marketing benefits

Sustainable packaging is a compelling selling point. Consumers are willing to pay more for environmentally packaged products. Studies show price increases of 5–15%.

5. Subsidies and incentive measures

In many regions, subsidy programs exist for sustainable packaging solutions. Check the available options in your market.

Why net packaging with clips is the better choice

There are various options for packaging fruits and vegetables. Below is a direct comparison between compostable net packaging with bio-clips and conventional solutions.

A direct comparison of compostable net-pak® bio-based nets with bio-clips versus plastic film and plastic trays – evaluated in terms of sustainability, waste disposal, product protection, ease of use, EU compliance and cost.

The benefits of net packaging with Bio-Clips in detail

Optimal Product Presentation

The netting ensures that the product is fully visible. Consumers can assess its quality and freshness at a glance, providing a powerful incentive to purchase.

Longer Shelf Life

The breathable netting prevents condensation and helps products stay fresh for longer. This extends shelf life and reduces product waste.

Lighter Transport Weight

Lightweight packaging means lower transport costs and reduced CO₂ emissions throughout the logistics process.

Easy in use

Net packaging is easy to stack, comfortable to handle and simplifies product handling at the point of sale.

Positive Environmental Footprint

From production and use through to disposal, the overall environmental impact is significantly lower than that of plastic film or trays.

Proven in practice: net-pak® at Fruit Logistica 2026

At Fruit Logistica 2026 in Berlin, the certified net-pak® Complete System was presented to an international trade audience together with the new Somi Net Clipper machine.

The on-site discussions clearly showed that producers and packers are increasingly looking for sustainable packaging solutions that are economical with raw materials while being reliable to process.

Central themes at our exhibition stand:

Great interest in fully compostable total solutions

Profitability and waste processing costs are cited as important decision factors.

Solutions must be able to be integrated into existing production lines as seamlessly as possible.

Need for concepts that are feasible in the long term and meet EU standards

The trade fair thereby confirmed a clear trend: there is demand for packaging solutions that reduce material consumption while simultaneously guaranteeing consistent quality in the packaging process.
